Progressive Slovakia (PS) is the first liberal political party to get so close to winning an election in Slovakia since the fall of communism. The September 30 election was undoubtedly a watershed moment in Slovakia’s political evolution, given its past struggles with political instability. A government is yet to be formed, which might take a while, considering the number of political actors and the years of political chaos. One thing is for sure—PS with its 18 percent share of the vote became the strongest force against Fico and SMER. The path is set for the liberal party to grow and conquer.
