Artificial intelligence and its role in party politics today
Before I start, let’s put our cards on the table. When it comes to AI, I’m a fan, however also slightly cynical. Not so much towards the possibilities. More towards the marketing.
The reason is that ‘AI’, as bandied about in the current discourse, is as much marketing jargon as it is technology. Speak to anyone who works in the scientific field over a few beers and they’ll readily acknowledge as much.
Artificial Intelligence is a nebulous term at best, that lends a quality (intelligence) which we haven’t even adequately defined, to a suite of technologies and products, most of which would be more accurately described as highly sophisticated automation.
