Will Vladimir Obradović be the next mayor of Belgrade?

With the Serbian December 17 parliamentary elections, the political stage is set for a potential shake-up, as Belgrade’s local elections, held on the same day, could reverberate beyond the city limits. President Aleksandar Vučić, who enjoys significant support nationally, has his name affiliated with multiple election lists, including the one for the Belgrade City Assembly and his mayoral candidate – the incumbent Aleksandar Šapić.

At the heart of this electoral battleground is also Vladimir Obradović, the mayoral candidate of the leading opposing coalition. And while some public opinion polls showed a good chance for the opposition, other surveys and bookmaker odds indicated a competitive race, the unpredictability of elections means outcomes remain uncertain.
