Trust is the fundament of any representative democratic system. All parties and politicians, therefore, have a genuine interest in creating and maintaining trust.

This can only be achieved when people are able to anticipate how politicians will act in a given situation. If their actions are not comprehensible and transparent enough, political actors risk losing their credibility and, if worst comes to worst, their electorate and supporter base.
