There is an idea, that we as an organisation are most efficient when we exist in the middle of chaos and structure. We are all created from chaos, a movement, and the longer we exist and become more organised we risk becoming stuck on the other end of that line, the pure structure. Here the chaos is scary, and we don’t move outside the already existing structures and ideas. This is where new members get scared off since they don’t feel any engagement or become included in the group.
Working in an agile and lean organisation is a bit like that, striving to exist between structure and chaos. Many times, I find that there is a clear need for development in an organisation, members voice a lot of the same needs, and you see where many are stuck in the same old ideas and structures. But changing and adapting to new solutions is scary and means changing yourself and the way you act in your role, stepping outside of your comfort zone. Because people are in the end those that uphold the structures and cultures in an organisation.
